Parasite film editor Yang Jinmo won the Outstanding Editing award at this year’s HPA Awards.

On November 19, Yang Jinmo was given the Outstanding Editing award from the HPA (Hollywood Professional Association) Awards ceremony held online for his best work in the award-winning film Parasite.

HPA is a trade association founded in 2002 by seasoned professionals and studio executives from major post facilities and manufacturers to serve the post-production community. Each year, HPA presents awards to individuals and groups to recognize the achievement of post-production talent such as color grading, editing, sound, visual effects and engineering.

With this achievement, editor Yang has also set a new record of becoming the first non-English film to take home the award at the HPA Awards. Earlier this year, he won the Best Edited Feature Film (DRAMATIC) award at the ACE Eddie Awards.

Director Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes International Film Festival last year and took home four awards, Best Picture, Directing, International Feature Film and Writing (Original Screenplay), from the Oscars 2020.
