A fashion brand might find itself in a bit of a fix with the recent controversies over Red Velvet’s Irene and EXO’s Chanyeol. It’s PRADA.

About a month ago, PRADA announced that they have chosen EXO’s Chanyeol and Red Velvet’s Irene as the brand ambassadors, and Vogue Korea unveiled PRADA’s 2020 Fall/Winter pictorial of the two.

As ambassadors, the two became the “face” of the brand. Coincidentally, however, both of them got embroiled in controversies not long after they were chosen as PRADA’s ambassadors.

Last week, a stylist/editor A exposed Irene’s rude behaviors. The idol soon admitted the controversy and apologized, but the controversy over her personality continued for a whole week. The incident has left a devastating blow to Irene’s image. Clinique, a cosmetics brand where Irene acts as an ambassador, scrubbed all her images from the posters and products. Red Velvet also had to cancel their appearances in the 2020 K-Culture Festival.

And exactly a week after this, B, Chanyeol’s alleged ex-girlfriend, exposed the idol’s misdeeds, sparking up another huge controversy. B claimed that Chanyeol cheated on her with more than 10 women, including members of girl groups, YouTubers, BJs, dancers and flight attendants. She even released photos taken with Chanyeol, adding credibility to her claims.

With such controversies, PRADA’s selection is being re-examined online. Netizens responded by saying, “I feel really sorry for those in charge of public relations,” “The Devil Wears Prada… lol” or “Why did they choose those two.”
