BLACKPINK has beat out Ed Sheeran to be the artist with the 3rd most YouTube subscribers.

According to YG Entertainment, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK’s official YouTube channel surpassed 45.6 million around 8:00 p.m. on August 28 KST. This is the third-largest number worldwide.

With this, the group has beat out Ed Sheeran, who has 45.3 million subscribers, and now has only Justin Biber and DJ Marshmello in front of them.

Above all, attention is being paid to the steep rise. BLACKPINK has newly secured millions of YouTube subscribers every time they released a new song, drawing keen attention. This time again, the number of subscribers to BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel has increased by about 100,000 per hour since the release of “Ice Cream.” If this trend continues, it will not be long before they reach 50 million.

“Ice Cream” topped the iTunes Worldwide Song chart on the first day of its release. It also swept the iTunes Top Songs charts in 38 countries, and ranked second and third in the US and UK.

As soon as the music video for “Ice Cream” was released, BLACKPINK already broke one of the K-pop girl group’s top titles by recording the biggest music video premiere with over 1.75 million peak concurrents. The number of views surpassed 70 million within 21 hours of its release, focusing all attention on the new records the song will set.
