Lee Chan Jin, former CEO of Fortis and the husband of actor Kim Hee Ae, was accused of embezzlement.
On April 24, current CEO of Fortis filed a complain against former CEO Lee Chan Jin and three other former CEOs for violating the law (embezzlement and malpractice), including “specific economic crimes,” saying that they misappropriated about 4.294 billion KRW (approx. 3,560,235 USD) company funds.
Lee Chan Jin acted as the CEO of Fortis from 2014 to 2017. Fortis reportedly believes he embezzled company funds during the period.
In a public announcement, Fortis said, “We will take all necessary measures in accordance with the proper procedures, and will actively cooperate with the investigation of related agencies.”
Fortis was established as a company specializing in digital set-top boxes on September 1, 2006 and was listed on the Kosdaq market on January 29, 2013.
Not only is Lee Chan Jin famous as the husband of actor Kim Hee Ae, but he is also better known as “Korea’s Bill Gates” as he is the founder of HANCOM. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 1996 but resigned only after six months.
