Super Junior’s Kim Hee Chul finally talked about the rumors of him being gay.
On April 13th, JTBC’s Love of 7.7 Billion �aired an episode about the LGBTQ communities’ human rights in different parts of the world.
During the discussion, Kim Hee Chul addressed his rumors by saying, “I became close with Hong Seok Cheon as soon as I debuted, and there have been rumors about me being gay since my debut.”
He continued, “I think it was because my hair was long at the time, and I wore colored contact lenses. I even had a dating scandal with another boy group member.”
The artist explained why he didn’t directly address the rumors by saying, “I wanted to say it wasn’t true at first, but I thought doing that may offend the LGBTQ community. And some may come to my concerts whether it’s in Korea or abroad, and I would feel very bad.”
Hong Seok Cheon also added, “This is my 20th year since coming out. If you ask me how much our country has changed in those 20 years, I would say that it has gotten better because people do give it a another thought, but there is still too much discrimination. I hope the prejudice and discrimination will disappear.”
