tvN’s variety show Free19 offered an exclusive look at the pre-debut days of Song Joong Ki.
The January 16th episode of the tvN show introduced a short clip from Mnet’s 2008 spy cam prank show called Humiliating Flower Boys. Jun Hyun Moo said, “The prettiest South Korean actor of all time made an appearance on a TV show before his debut,” and elaborated that Song Joong Ki was featured in a segment on the show when he was only 23 years old. He added that the star immediately garnered attention for his unrealistically charming looks when he was first featured in the show. Seeing the scenes with Song Joong Ki, Han Seok Jun agreed, saying, “He is really good-looking.”
Jun Hyun Moo explained, “This program placed good-looking non-celebrity men in awkward situations and observed how they would react. The program became an immediate hit for featuring young and handsome men who were just as attractive as movie stars.”
He continued, “Song Joong Ki appeared in the third episode while attending Sungkyunkwan University. He became super popular not only for his good looks but for his considerate actions toward the lady who was playing a drunk prank on him. At that time, people didn’t really use the term ‘Influencers’, and there were only two types of people in the world of television entertainment: celebrity and non-celebrity. Song Joong Ki was the one who blurred the line between these distinct two ideas.”
