Former EXO member Kris Wu has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on charges of sexual assault.
On the morning of the 24th, the 3rd Intermediate People’s Court of Beijing rejected Wu’s appeal and upheld the original sentence of 13 years in prison. China adopts a two-trial system, with the appellate trial being the final trial.
Previously, Kris Wu was indicted for rape and group licentiousness. The court stated, “Wu took advantage of several women who were intoxicated to have sexual intercourse, which constitutes the crime of rape.” Furthermore, the court remarked, “He even organized and led obscene activities, constituting group licentiousness. The original verdict correctly recognized the factual circumstances, and the evidence was clear and sufficient.”
Kris Wu was accused of raping an intoxicated woman at his home in December 2020 and using the same method to rape three other women. He was also charged with obscene behavior involving two women and another individual in 2018.
He was criminally detained in July 2021 on rape charges and has since been under investigation and trial. The first trial, held in November last year, found Wu guilty, sentencing him to 11 years and 6 months for rape and an additional 1 year and 10 months for group licentiousness. Additionally, the singer was ordered to be deported from the country after serving his sentence.
