While former BIGBANG member Seungri was sentenced to three years in prison, he plans to appeal against the verdict of the first trial.

Earlier, Seungri was sentenced to three years in prison for arranging prostitution and was also fined 1.15 billion KRW (about $984,800). Since then, attention has been focused on whether the artist will appeal. And today, Seungri’s legal representative briefly stated that they have “a plan to appeal against the verdict.”

Seungri’s appeal was already somewhat expected. Although he had denied the charges during the trial that lasted for more than 10 months, the court hardly accepted any of his explanations. Hence, many hardly believed that Seungri would accept the verdict as it is.

However, Seungri has not filed for the appeal yet.

Seungri will likely submit for the appeal before his discharge from the military. So the second trial is also expected to be held in the military court.

In the first trial, Seungri was found guilty of all 9 charges, including soliciting prostitution, abetting assault, gambling, and embezzlement. At the time, the court stated, “The crimes committed by the accused, who commercialized sex and violated customs, are not small in social harm.”

Currently, Seungri is detained in the 55th Division Military Police Force.
