Q. How does it feel to work with Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung for the first time? Were any cast members different from what you expected? Can you share any funny stories?

Jung Sung Il: I’m a big fan of Roh Jae Won, actually. We are both a little bit shy, so it took time for us to warm up. We don’t share many scenes together, but I love watching him act on set. Hyun Bin and Jung Woo Sung are such talented actors and cool in person. They beat all the expectations I had of them.

Roh Jae Won: I think we have very great chemistry on set. I think we have even better chemistry here for this interview today. I just felt that everyone was so handsome and beautiful, and I want to be as handsome and beautiful as well.

Q. Your characters particularly smoke and curse a lot in the series. Is it something awkward to do in front of others, or does it come naturally?

Roh Jae Won: I think there were other difficult things to prepare for than things like that. I think it was important to prepare my confidence on screen because I’m working alongside actors I really admire and look up to.

Jung Sung Il: It wasn’t that hard for me because I am a smoker in real life, so it is nothing new. I think the most fun thing to film was the cursing part and moments my character gets made because in real life, we do not react like that. My character doesn’t have that big of a temper, but it was fun to film those moments.

Q. Can you tell us about the scene in episode four where the temple burns on fire. How did they film that scene? Was it CGI?

Roh Jae Won: I was there for that scene. It wasn’t a set or CGI; we actually lit the temple on fire.

Q. Even though you were born in different decades, was there something special you learned about the 1970s?

Jung Sung Il: In front of the script, the director prepared a little booklet with the history of Korea in the 1970s and the props we used.

Roh Jae Won: Really? What? Ohh… hmm. But, I didn’t get that?

Jung Sung Il: You didn’t get that? It was reference material. Why didn’t you see that?

Roh Jae Won: Yeah, I studied and researched on YouTube a lot. But I learned more from the real items on set. The props that we used were actual items, and I felt like the past was actually my present rather than being transported there. I was living in the 1970s with these immaculate sets.

Q. Were there any scenes you personally enjoyed filming and look forward to fans seeing?

Jung Sung Il: We are filming season two right now, and I think you can look forward to the big changes in Pyeong Hak Su’s development and transformation.

Roh Jae Won: If we talk about season one, I think episodes five and six have such a powerful energy, and the scale of these scenes is a must-see.

In the end, Jung Sung Il and Roh Jae Won shared a generous number of facts and humorous stories from their time filming the series. With so much hype surrounding this political thriller, Made In Korea will be the must-see show for the rest of the holidays.
