Lee Seung Gi shared personal reflections on father-son dynamics while promoting his upcoming film About Family.

The movie held its press screening and press conference on November 21st at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa, Seoul. Attending the event were director Yang Woo Seok, who also penned the script, and lead actors Kim Yun Seok and Lee Seung Gi.

About Family follows Ham Moo Ok (Kim Yun Seok), the owner of a beloved dumpling shop, who has long worried about the future of his family’s legacy after his son, Ham Moon Seok (Lee Seung Gi), became a monk. Just when he believes the family line has ended, his world is turned upside down when children claiming to be Moon Seok’s arrive unexpectedly at their doorstep. What unfolds is a series of comedic and heartwarming challenges as this unlikely group navigates their surprising new reality.

At the press conference, Lee Seung Gi revealed, “Personally, I could really relate to the father-son relationship between Moo Ok and Moon Seok in the film. Honestly, most father-son relationships aren’t as warm and communicative as the ones you see in public service ads. When I think about it, I wonder if it’s because we never really learned how to communicate with one another.”

He continued, “Even though fathers and sons spend a lot of time together at home, it can feel awkward to talk about certain things. I wasn’t very close with my father when it came to having heart-to-heart conversations. But now, as I’ve gotten older, gotten married, and become a father myself, I’ve grown closer to my parents and understand them better.”

Meanwhile, About Family will hit theaters on December 11th.
