Running Man‘s upcoming fan meeting in Vietnam has been canceled just days before it was set to take place.
According to MyDaily on June 30th, the SBS variety show’s fan meeting, scheduled for July 4th at Saigon Riverside Park in Ho Chi Minh City, will no longer go ahead due to reasons described locally as beyond the organizers’ control.
The event was set to feature the full Running Man cast, including Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Haha, Song Ji Hyo, Yang Se Chan and Ji Ye Eun. It would have marked the show’s first fan meeting since Ji Ye Eun joined the lineup.
While the official reason given locally was force majeure, sources say the event was ultimately canceled because ticket sales were weaker than expected.
Running Man first launched its overseas fan meeting tour in 2013 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong, bringing the cast abroad to meet fans in a concert-style format. It was the first Korean variety show to hold overseas fan meetings under its own brand.
Since then, Running Man has visited Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Macau and Vietnam. The tour was moved online during the COVID-19 pandemic before resuming in the Philippines in 2023. The Vietnam event would have been the team’s second visit to the country, following their 2019 fan meeting, but fans will now have to wait for another chance.
The cancellation comes amid a recent rise in overseas fan meetings by Korean stars being called off, with high ticket prices often leading to weaker-than-expected sales.
