Fans of the courtroom romance Beyond The Bar may have reason to celebrate. According to an exclusive report from Xports News on April 1st, JTBC is officially discussing a second season for the breakout series.
The drama follows the journey of Kang Hyo Min (played by Jung Chae Yeon), a righteous and determined —if slightly socially awkward—rookie attorney at the prestigious Yulim Law Firm. She is paired with Yoon Seok Hoon (Lee Jin Wook), a cold, top-tier veteran lawyer in the field. The first season mixed intense courtroom drama with a developing romance between the main characters.
The series resonated with viewers thanks to the grounded performances of its lead ensemble. Lee Jin Wook and Jung Chae Yeon starred as the central pair, joined by Lee Hak Joo and Jeon Hye Bin as members of the law firm’s litigation team.
Critics praised the show for its realistic portrayal of legal life and its delicate handling of emotional scars and personal growth. By the time the finale aired, the show had become a ratings hit, peaking at a 9.1% nationwide viewership.
The production company SLL is keeping specific details under wraps for now. In a statement to Xports News, a representative stated, “We are currently discussing the production of Season 2. However, details such as the filming schedule and returning cast have not yet been finalized.”
Given the show’s unique blend of office politics and heartfelt storytelling, anticipation is high to see if the original cast will reunite to continue the story of the Yulim Law Firm.
