
Disney Plus has confirmed that The Koreans will be released in 2027.
The Koreans is a Korean version of the popular FX series The Americans. It is produced by the company behind hits like Shōgun and The Bear. The original show ran for six seasons, won a Golden Globe for Best TV Drama, and was ranked 8th on the BBC’s Top 100 Best TV Series of the 21st Century.
The series will be set in 1990s Seoul, focusing on a middle-class apartment complex. It will explore the era’s atmosphere, relatable characters, emotional stories and thrilling suspense.

Lee Byung Hun will star as Kim Myung Jun, an elite North Korean spy living in South Korea under a hidden identity for over a decade.

Han Ji Min plays Yoon Hwa Kyung, Kim Myung Jun’s wife, who is also a North Korean spy.

Lee Hee Jun will portray Cha Ki Seok, a detective from the Anti-Espionage Division who moves in next door, creating psychological tension with the couple.
The drama will be directed by Ahn Gil Ho of The Glory and written by Park Eun Gyo of Made in Korea. The Koreans will be available exclusively on Disney Plus in 2027.
