Winner member Mino recently drew attention after appearing at a VIP screening while awaiting trial over allegations tied to his alternative military service.
On March 13th, Mino was spotted at the VIP premiere for the film Method Acting, held at Megabox COEX in Seoul. Witnesses said the singer attended wearing a mask and a hat that partially covered his face.
His appearance quickly became a talking point online, largely because he is currently facing trial over accusations of negligent service during his time as a public service worker.
The first hearing was initially scheduled for March 24th at the Seoul Western District Court but was later postponed to April 21st after Mino’s legal team requested a delay, which the court accepted.
Reports initially suggested that actor Lee Dong Hwi, who stars in Method Acting, had invited Mino to the screening, as the two are known to be close friends.
However, Lee Dong Hwi addressed the speculation in an interview with Star News while promoting the film. “I did not invite Mino,” he said. “I didn’t contact him. I only heard afterward that he attended.”
According to eyewitness accounts, Mino stayed relatively low-key during the event but was still noticed by reporters and fans because of his distinctive shoulder-length hairstyle.
Mino served as a public service worker from March 2023 to December 2024 but was indicted without detention in December last year over allegations of violating the Military Service Act. Prosecutors claim he repeatedly used leave and sick days improperly and was absent without authorization for 102 days during his 430-day service period.
