Rising star Lee Chae Min has been cast as the lead in an upcoming Korean drama adaptation of the beloved Japanese novel The Miracles of the Namiya General Store.

According to industry sources on February 6th, the hit novel by renowned author Keigo Higashino is officially being developed into a Korean series, with Lee attached as its male lead. The project is currently deep in casting and discussions are underway for a global OTT release.

The Korean adaptation is expected to run for approximately 10 episodes. While details about Lee’s character remain under wraps, the series will reimagine the original story for a Korean setting while preserving its emotional core.

Originally published in Japan, The Miracles of the Namiya General Store tells the story of three young thieves who hide out in an abandoned shop that mysteriously connects the past and present. As they begin responding to letters from people seeking advice, the trio slowly uncovers intertwined destinies and life-changing miracles tied to the store itself.

The novel became a long-running bestseller in Korea and has already been adapted into films in Japan and China. In Korea, it was also turned into a stage play that premiered in 2018.

Lee Chae Min has recently emerged as one of Korea’s most in-demand young actors. He drew attention through dramas like Crash Course in Romance and See You in My 19th Life, before solidifying his breakout status last year as the lead of tvN’s Bon Appétit, Your Majesty. More recently, he showed a darker edge playing Jonathan in Netflix’s Cashero.
