A new Korean film with a powerhouse cast is officially on the way.
Casting has been confirmed for The Gardeners (working title), the latest project from director Nam Dong Hyub, best known for Handsome Guys. The film stars Song Kang Ho, Koo Kyo Hwan, Shin Hyun Been, Song Seung Heon, and Lee Kwang Soo.
The Gardeners is an offbeat comedy that follows a civil servant whose only joy in life is tending plants. When he teams up with the neighborhood’s most notorious troublemaker to launch an unusual gardening business, their quiet town is thrown into unexpected chaos.
Song Kang Ho stars as Choi Young Il, the reserved public official at the center of the story. Koo Kyo Hwan plays Kim Moon Ho, a walking disaster who seems to drag trouble wherever he goes. Known for his unpredictable screen presence, Koo is expected to spark wild, off-the-wall chemistry with Song.
Song Seung Heon takes on the role of Han Chung Yong, a former top star who fell from grace after a life-altering incident. Lee Kwang Soo appears as Song Sa Jang, the owner of a lottery shop who becomes a key partner in distributing Young Il’s gardening venture.

Shin Hyun Been stars as Kang Mi Ae, a restaurant owner hiding a dangerous secret. Known for seamlessly shifting between light and dark roles, Shin brings a cool, elegant edge to the character. Lee Jae In will make a special appearance as Young Il’s daughter, Choi Eun Soo.
Director Nam Dong Hyub earned widespread recognition with Handsome Guys, winning Best New Director at the Directors Cut Awards and receiving honors at major festivals including Sitges Film Festival and the Florence Korea Film Fest. Expectations are high that he will once again deliver sharp humor paired with thrilling tension.
Production is being handled by Hive Media Corp, known for its diverse genre slate. The Gardeners is currently in pre-production, with filming slated to begin in 2026.
