The TVING original series Dear X has wrapped up its intense five-week run, delivering a finale that was as devastating as it was unforgettable.
Episodes 11 and 12 sealed the fates of Baek Ah Jin (played by Kim Yoo Jung), Yoon Jun Seo (Kim Young Dae), and Kim Jae Oh (Kim Do Hoon), leaving them caught between a flicker of hope and the brink of complete destruction.
The finale cranked up the tension as Kim Jae Oh uncovered the shocking truth behind Baek Ah Jin’s assault and the shady dealings of her husband, Moon Do Hyuk (Hong Jong Hyun). His worst fears were confirmed when he discovered that Ah Jin was suffering from partial memory loss and couldn’t even remember seeking help.
Despite being warned about Moon’s dangerous nature, Ah Jin felt trapped in her situation, believing that divorce would mean losing everything she had worked for. Seeing her pain, Kim Jae Oh made the ultimate sacrifice, promising her, “I will make sure Moon Do Hyuk can’t hurt Baek Ah Jin anymore.”
Yoon Jun Seo, realizing the gravity of the situation too late, also took action. However, he hesitated and found himself caught in a painful conflict with Jae Oh in the end. Later, when he found Baek Ah Jin standing alone in the middle of a swimming pool, she tearfully confessed, “I am still someone who can be abandoned,” leaving him with an overwhelming sense of impending disaster.
In the end, Jae Oh sacrificed everything to protect Baek Ah Jin, while Yoon Jun Seo made a heartbreaking decision to preserve their love. His desperate attempt to save her, even at the cost of his own destruction, ultimately led to his tragic downfall.
While Dear X was praised for its immersive storytelling and its bold expansion of the original webtoon’s plot, the open-ended finale has left many fans dissatisfied.
Many viewers took to social media, expressing their frustration with the conclusion. Comments such as “I watched the ending, but it feels like I didn’t get an ending,” “This conclusion makes no sense,” and “This ending is just incomplete without a Season 2,” reflect the overwhelming sentiment among fans.
Dearx webtoon and drama became two totally different stories(and I prefer the webtoon’s ending),I don’t enjoy open endings,so are we getting a S2? Jaeho is d*** Ahjin and her husband survived, and Junseo was still alive at the end btw WHAT IF HE SURVIVED TOO ?#DearXep12 #DearX pic.twitter.com/L9jCFZTkU0

#DearX is a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me. the acting was amazing, the plot was so good even with additional stuff not from the webtoon. i just loved the webtoon ending more bc i felt satisfied with each of the character’s ending more than the drama ver. pic.twitter.com/cQ0JLf9sOd

the most heartbreaking ending was jae-oh. his loyalty n love ran so deep it hurts to see him sacrifice everything he loved ahjin just as she was, never trying to change her n even though she never noticed his feelings, he never asked for anything in return like she said #dearx pic.twitter.com/N1UzLFEd9s

He’s fool to love her unconditionally..
I didn’t like the ending Junseo did not get the justice or happiness he deserved.
he suffered so much throughout the story,Instead of giving him healing, peace or a chance to live normally, the ending showed more sadness..😭 pic.twitter.com/vZhpe9iyQ5— 𝓢𝓱𝓪𝓻𝓾 ˙·٠• (@LovYouZindagi) December 4, 2025
My honest and unfiltered take on #DearX‘s ending:
As someone who have also read the manhwa, I like the ending of the drama better.
The original webtoon ending involves an innocent life, Ahjin’s child, who is used as a tool for revenge. This could potentially signal a… pic.twitter.com/B9w8rdoM3i
