6The tvN drama Bon Appétit, Your Majesty concluded its run earlier this year, leaving a lasting buzz among viewers.
The series captivated audiences with its unique time-slip concept, where a modern-day chef finds herself thrown back in time to serve a tyrant. The show achieved massive popularity by offering a rich mix of history, mouthwatering culinary scenes and a sweet romance. This success has sparked renewed interest in the original web novel with fans now eagerly demanding a second season to the novel and drama adaptation.
The author of the original novel recently sat down with IZE magazine to talk about the show’s success, the future of the story, and the possibility of a Season 2. Park Guk Jae confirmed that a sequel is definitely in the works, revealing that preparations are already underway.
“The novel’s second season has to come first before we can proceed with the drama,” Park explained. “I’m already working on it, and the synopsis is mostly done. The structure of the story is in place from the introduction to the conclusion. We’re now fine-tuning the details.”
Park also hinted at a big-picture plan for the future that is sure to excite fans. “The drama adaptation will likely come into focus once the story is further along while the novel’s development will continue as planned,” he said. “My plan is to release Season 2 of the novel, the drama and even a webtoon at the same time.”
One of the most exciting revelations was Park’s mention of the side stories from the original novel, which were not fully explored in the drama. These untold stories, Park believes, will play a key role in Season 2. “If we go forward with a Season 2, I think the side stories will be an important starting point,” he shared. “They will help address the questions fans have about the tyrant’s time travel, which is a big mystery.”
Park also teased the potential for expanding the world of the original web novel even further. “We’re always expanding the universe of the original work, and there are a lot of untold stories we could explore,” the author said. “I’m also working on a few other projects, some with a completely different vibe and some with a similar tone. But no matter what, the fans are most eager for a Season 2 of this story.”
Finally, the author expressed their gratitude to the viewers who have supported the drama, emphasizing that the original novel has its own unique charm. “The novel offers a different feel compared to the drama,” the author explained. “Because of the time constraints of the show, we couldn’t include all of the content and hidden stories from the book. These are the same elements that make a Season 2 possible, so I encourage fans to check out the original work as well.”
With the momentum of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty still going strong, it looks like fans have a lot to look forward to.
