The 2025 MAMA Awards will go on as scheduled despite the tragic Hong Kong fire disaster.

On November 27th, CJ ENM released an official statement addressing the devastating apartment fire in Hong Kong, expressing “deep condolences to those who lost their lives” and “heartfelt sympathy to the families and everyone suffering immense loss and fear.”

According to CJ ENM, the 2025 MAMA Awards will move forward as scheduled, with the ceremony incorporating a “Support Hong Kong” message and offering time for collective remembrance. The company also announced plans to contribute donations to support victims of the tragedy.

“We believe in the healing and unifying power of music,” CJ ENM stated. “Rather than focusing on grandeur, we are preparing a performance centered on comfort and hope, approaching every aspect of staging with care. We sincerely hope the music offers even a small measure of solace and courage.”

The massive fire, which broke out on the 26th at the Wong Fuk Court residential complex in Hong Kong’s Tai Po district, has so far claimed at least 83 lives, with 76 more injured.

The 2025 MAMA Awards, set to take place on the 28th–29th at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium, had been undergoing extensive internal discussions regarding whether the event could proceed safely and respectfully.

Hong Kong stars Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun Fat, who were scheduled to present, have already notified organizers that they will not be attending. The red carpet event has also been canceled.
