TVING’s Dear X ramped up the tension this week as Kim Yoo Jung’s character was thrust into unexpected danger.
Episodes 7 and 8, released on the 20th, showed Baek Ah Jin (Kim Yoo Jung) and Heo In Kang (Hwang In Yeop) taking their romance public.
Ahjin and Heo Ingang in this scene look like a married couple, talking about something concerning their children. If it were a drama with them as a normal couple, it would be lovely to see them married and with a family. 🥹🤍#DearX #DearXEp7 #KimYooJung pic.twitter.com/iyhC0ojNdc

But the biggest shock came when In Kang discovered Ah Jin’s feelings were never real, triggering a tragic turning point that became one of the show’s most explosive twists.
After confirming their relationship, Ah Jin met entertainment reporter Im Hee Guk (Ryu Kyung Hwan) and struck a secret deal—offering exclusive stories about her romance to steer the narrative to her advantage. Her remark, “My love life is going to be loud and hot,” hinted at her broader plan.
For a year, the couple lived in the spotlight, while Yoon Jun Seo (Kim Young Dae) and Kim Jae Oh (Kim Do Hoon) wrestled with growing unease. Jun Seo grew especially anxious when Ah Jin didn’t return to him even after the promised one-year mark passed.
Ah Jin also grew close to In Kang’s family, especially his grandmother Hong Kyung Sook (Park Seung Tae). But when the grandmother found her missing notebook in Ah Jin’s home, she realized Ah Jin had approached the family intentionally. Ah Jin rushed to her house—just before a loud crash sent Jun Seo and Jae Oh running toward a now-ominous scene.
Accident or something more? Only Ah Jin knew. Jun Seo suspected an impulsive act, while Jae Oh bristled at the doubt. In Kang, who had dreamed of marrying Ah Jin, fell into despair after losing someone dear. And when marriage rumors surfaced about the couple, Ah Jin abruptly revealed her true nature and ended things coldly.
Ah-Jin is downright crazy, and I love every bit of it #DearX #DearXEp7 #Kdrama pic.twitter.com/QazaelKshi

he lost the person he valued most in this world and the one he dreamed of marrying, and on top of that he found out she was the reason his grandmother died… i’m actually shattered…#DearX #DearXEp8 pic.twitter.com/3truhsBBHX

Unable to ignore the mounting tragedies, Jun Seo confronted her. Ah Jin snapped back, “Blaming me is just blaming who you used to be,” unleashing long-held resentment. Jun Seo later watched the USB containing the truth behind the Hong Kyung Sook incident—opening Pandora’s box—and was crushed by guilt for doubting her again.
The relationship between Ajin and Junseo really fascinates me. “I won’t blame u. You’re the 1st person I chose to keep by my side.” I’m too soft and would fall 10 thousands for this. Worse is, she means it, it’s not the 1st time she tells him something like this #DearX #DearXEp8 pic.twitter.com/Gp7yALWU90

Meanwhile, Choi Jung Ho (Kim Ji Hoon) and Shim Sung Hee (Kim Yi Kyung) returned, stirring new tension. Jung Ho warned her gently, “Don’t forget—someone out there truly feels for you,” calling it his version of revenge. Sung Hee appeared at Ah Jin’s home with new schemes, and mysterious men tailing Jae Oh—plus the looming arrival of Moon Do Hyuk (Hong Jong Hyun)—sent the suspense even higher.
