The stars of Dear X are giving fans a glimpse of their chemistry with their latest behind-the-scenes photos.

Kim Young Dae delighted fans by posting a playful instant photo on November 11th, seemingly from a graduation scene in the show. Captioned “Ah Jin and Jun Seo,” the photo shows him and co-star Kim Yoo Jung playfully posing for pictures.

The post drew enthusiastic reactions, with TVING’s official account commenting, “Ah Jin, Jun Seo… may I dare say you two are so cute together…?” Fans agreed, with many writing, “So pretty,” and “Can’t they just film a romantic comedy together once?”

Just two days earlier, however, Kim Yoo Jung reminded everyone just how dark and gritty the R-rated series is. She uploaded a series of intense photos captioned, “Dear X, Ah Jin and Ah Jin, Us, and X.” In the pictures, her face is stained with blood and a visible wound is on her cheek as she stares blankly into the void. The post earned high praise from fans for her deep immersion into the character.

Fans flooded the post, showing how immersed they were. Comments ranged from “Kim Yoo Jung has become this character,” to pleas like, “Ah Jin, just run away and live your life!”

The actress is currently earning rave reviews for her role as Baek Ah Jin, a woman who hides a complex world of desire and emptiness behind a cold façade.

In contrast to her chilling character, a heartwarming story from the set has also gone viral. The mother of child actress Gi So You revealed that Kim Yoo Jung personally asked the production team to assign a counselor for her daughter, expressing concern for the child’s well-being, given the show’s intense themes. “She looked after the child actors on set,” the mother wrote, adding, “There was so much to learn from her.”

Dear X is based on the hit Naver Webtoon of the same name and tells the cruel story of a famous actress and the “X’s” she has trampled on.

The TVING original series releases two new episodes every Thursday at 6 PM KST.
