
Cho Yi Hyun is set to take on a new challenge in the upcoming psychological thriller 6 Lying University Students.
It was confirmed on October 29 that the actress, beloved for her roles in All of Us Are Dead and The Matchmakers, has been cast as the lead in the new film.
Directed by Kim Jeong Hoon, the movie is a Korean adaptation of the popular Japanese novel of the same name. The story follows six college graduates who enter a fierce psychological battle as they compete for a single opening at a global IT company.
Backed by 1 billion won ($730,000) in funding from the Korean Film Council, the highly anticipated production is already drawing attention for its ensemble of promising young talents, Cho Yi Hyun, Kang You Seok, Shin Seung Ho, and Kwak Dong Yeon.
Cho Yi Hyun will portray Moon Hye In, a humanities major with a sharp ability to read situations. Kang You Seok will play the strategic leader of the group, Kwak Dong Yeon an introverted genius, and Shin Seung Ho the humorous “mood maker.”
This film marks a major genre shift for Cho Yi Hyun, who has built a strong career through romance, school, and historical dramas like Hospital Playlist and School 2021. Fans are eager to see her explore the complex psychological depth demanded by this intense new role.
