Shin Ye Eun was the target of a hilarious running gag during a recent appearance on the YouTube channel BDNS, where host Moon Sang Hoon repeatedly set her up to talk about her own “legendary” college photos, only to surprise her with pictures of other famous stars instead.
The interview began with Shin Ye Eun explaining how she was discovered after modeling for the cover of College Tomorrow, a popular university magazine in Korea. “I once modeled for the cover… and after seeing that photo, I auditioned and joined my agency,” she confirmed.
The host then began to praise a “legendary” cover model from the magazine with “a charming dimple,” leading Shin Ye Eun to believe he was talking about her—only for him to reveal a photo of top star Han Ga In. A surprised Shin Ye Eun played along, awkwardly saying, “She’s very beautiful.”
After a second, equally glowing introduction for another “cheat code” alum from her university, he again surprised her with a photo of superstar Song Joong Ki.
When the host finally did show Shin Ye Eun’s photos, he delivered a series of comically deadpan compliments like “Oh… wow…” before playfully admitting, “I apologize. After seeing Han Ga In’s and Song Joong Ki’s photos first, my excitement level dropped… Shin Ye Eun’s photos look older than theirs.”
The segment ended with Shin Ye Eun getting the last laugh by referencing her famous villain role in the hit Netflix drama The Glory, where her character notoriously used a hot curling iron to torture victims. “Hey, I do have a curling iron in my bag, you know?” she joked, cracking everyone up.
Shin Ye Eun, who studied acting at the prestigious Sungkyunkwan University, is set to appear in the new Disney Plus show The Murky Stream, which premieres on September 26th.
