Some lucky viewers got an early look at the ending of The Defects after TVING accidentally uploaded the final episode instead of the intended Episode 6.
On August 5th, TVING uploaded the 8th and final episode of the ENA Monday-Tuesday drama The Defects instead of the scheduled 6th episode for that day. Viewers were shocked by the unexpected major spoiler.
The mistake immediately spoiled the show’s entire plot for many viewers, who took to online forums like Naver Talk to express their confusion and frustration.
“I felt like something was strange while watching,” one viewer wrote. Another commented, “TVING made a huge upload error. I got spoiled for everything.”
Other comments conveyed anger over the massive leak: “They uploaded the final episode!”; “Please don’t spoil it”; “How could a mistake like this even happen?”; and “I’m so annoyed because I got spoiled.”
Episode 8 was available on TVING for approximately 20 minutes before being removed. Currently, the finale is unavailable with an “Unable to load broadcast information” message. However, the correct sixth episode has still not been uploaded.
The Defects is an 8-episode action thriller based on a popular webtoon about a group of children who are “refunded”—abandoned by their adoptive parents—and band together for survival and revenge. The series stars a notable cast including Yum Jung Ah, Won Jin Ah, Choi Young Jun, and Kim Jin Young (also known as Dex).
This upload error is the latest in a series of tragic events for the show. Just last week, it was reported that cast member Song Young Gyu had passed away. With this latest incident, there is growing sympathy online for the drama’s cast and production team.
