The Squid Game Season 3 finale was released on June 27th. Despite speculation if the series is really ending, the epic journey of Player 456, Seong Gi Hun (played by Lee Jung Jae), is officially over. What fate awaited Seong Gi Hun and the remaining survivors after the failed attempt to revolt? We have selected the best and worst moments from Squid Game this season.
Best Moment 1: Seong Gi Hun successfully completes the jump rope

Squid Game focuses on the character Seong Gi Hun. During the survival game, he overcomes more crises because of others’ misfortunes. One of the most impressive scenes in season 3 would be when Seong Gi Hun performs the jump rope while holding Player 222 (Jo Yu Ri)’s baby. This scene clearly demonstrates his qualities as a winner and his own ingenuity.

Best Moment 2: The moment Player 100 Im Jeong Dae (Song Young Chang) pushed Seon Nyeo (Chae Gook Hee) aside and slammed the exit shut

The big concern for season 3 was Seon Nyeo surviving for a lengthy period of time and speaking senseless dialogue. After earnestly praying to the gods, Seon Nyeo finally located the exit, and she was betrayed by Player 100 Lim Jeong Dae. The most memorable moments throughout the entire series are those where villain competes against villain in pursuit of their own guaranteed happiness. The abundance of those moments made this season delightful.
Best Moment 3: The beginning of the Front Man’s brutality

The highly anticipated fight between Seong Gi Hun and the Front Man (Lee Byung Hun) did not fully materialize. A two-minute scene, which was a flashback of the Front Man’s past, appeared in episode 5, but it was still welcomed. Past Squid Game participant Hwang In Ho received a knife from the 2015 era Front Man, Oh Il Nam. He proceeded to kill other contestants and succeeded in his mission. Hwang In Ho’s complex inner world is vividly revealed through this clip. He is portrayed as an innocent character forced to forsake humanity in pursuit of victory. There is even hope for his backstory to be explored in a possible Squid Game prequel.
Best Moment 4: The moment Seong Gi Hun chooses not to kill the participants with the knife received from In Ho

This moment stands out among the rest as the most Gi Hun-like decision. Seong Gi Hun could have stopped the game by killing participants with the knife the Front Man In Ho gave him, but he chose not to. The death of his friend Jeong Bae (Lee Seo Hwan) and his promise to protect Jun Hee’s child made him hesitate for a moment, but he couldn’t continue the brutality. This choice is a stark contrast to In Ho succumbing to the system and becoming the Front Man. Gi Hun rejects the game’s violence and values human life. This scene demonstrates that humanity is alive. Gi Hun’s decision is the true definition of humanity, and it is the theme that permeates the entire Squid Game series.

Worst Moment 1: The scene depicting Lunchbox

One of the worst moments is the negative turnaround in the K-drama through Player 100 and his group assault against Player 039 (Woo Jeong Guk), who is nicknamed Lunchbox, during the final ‘High-Altitude Squid Game.’ The popular series depicts violence where only the survivors win, yet its portrayal of direct violence isn’t the usual one. However, the drama does depict a group lynching and leg breaking, with disturbingly happy villains. The unpleasant scene shows Player 039 screaming and then trembling in shock. This illustration is too explicit. It can be classified as one of the most intense scenes for seasons 2-3.
Worst Moment 2: The moment Kang No Eul (Park Gyu Young) infiltrated the headquarters and burned documents

Kang No Eul was a mysterious character with so much potential; however, interest in her character quickly declined. This reached its lowest point in Episode 6, when Kang No Eul infiltrated the game’s headquarters and burned the documents. She destroyed all the files, including information on her love interest, Player 246, Gyeong Seok (Lee Jin Wook). In self-defeat, she proceeded to sit in the Front Man’s chair and aimed a gun at herself. It’s almost impossible to hide disappointment watching such a unique character destroy her own individuality.
Worst Moment 3: Every Moment the VIPs Appear

In Squid Game Season 3, the wealthy, masked VIPs return with increased screen time. Mocking contestants and concealing their identities, they are portrayed as cruel and inhumane, even betting on the survival of a newborn child in the latest season. While they now observe the games in person on a remote island, their experience is still limited to viewing monitors, raising questions about how they truly enjoy the games, as they seem unable to catch close-ups or overhear conversations. The surprise cameo of Cate Blanchett as a “Ttakji” recruiter highlights the global scale of the games, prompting questions about why all the VIPs are foreigners.
Worst Moment 4: The moment Seong Gi Hun killed Dae Ho (Kang Ha Neul)

Gi Hun’s attempted revolution to dismantle the system ends in vain in Squid Game Season 2, leaving behind only the sacrifices of others, like his friend Jeong Bae (played by Lee Seo Hwan). Wracked with guilt, Gi-hun projects the blame onto Dae-ho and ultimately kills him during the “Key and Knife” game. Gi Hun’s choice to hold Dae-ho accountable—when Dae-ho should have been a partner in solidarity—is a tragic one. In trying to create change, Gi-hun ends up repeating the very violence he sought to end.
