MoonOne, the groom-to-be set to marry Koyote member Shinji, has directly addressed past allegations surrounding him. While admitting to some wrongdoing, he strongly refuted claims that don’t align with the facts.
On July 3rd, MoonOne took to Instagram to share a lengthy statement: “Since our engagement news broke, I’ve been reviewing past events and checking the facts—it’s taken some time. I’m sorry for causing concern,” he began, before walking through each issue point by point.
He admitted it was true that he had worked in real estate without a license. “I was struggling to make ends meet during my early days, and a friend suggested I give it a try. I honestly didn’t realize it was illegal to do brokerage work without being certified,” he said. “I won’t make excuses. I truly apologize and will take full responsibility.”
However, he denied allegations of bullying or physical abuse during his school years or military service, calling them “completely false.” Also, while acknowledging that his previous marriage was due to premarital pregnancy, he denied “the two-timing allegations are not true.”
As for the rumor that he changed his legal name multiple times, MoonOne clarified, “My legal name is Park Sang Moon. I’ve only changed my stage name—from Giryeon to MoonOne. I’ve never changed my real name. I ask everyone to please refrain from spreading unverified or false claims.”
He also addressed recent backlash from a YouTube video posted to Shinji’s channel, which showed her introducing him to her longtime bandmates Kim Jong Min and Bbaekga. The clip featured MoonOne confessing that he hadn’t disclosed his divorce and child to Shinji until further into their relationship. Some also took issue with how he attended the meeting in sweats, which they saw as disrespectful.
“I feel sorry for seemingly causing disappointment and hurt to everyone who sent congratulations and support, and especially to Shinji, who should only be receiving congratulations,” he apologized. “As someone who’s to be Shinji’s life partner, I’m ashamed that my words and actions have raised concerns among fans. I will work to be more thoughtful and sincere moving forward.”
Shinji and MoonOne first met during her time as a DJ on MBC FM’s Singlbungl Show. What started as friendship between colleagues later blossomed into romance. The couple recently shot their wedding photos and even released a duet song “Salagadoola” on June 26th.
