BTS leader RM revealed that he suffered from insomnia due to events involving HYBE.
RM went live on June 10th to celebrate his military discharge. During the stream, he shared, “Military life was really rough for me. The training and everything were tough, but the worst part was not being able to sleep,” adding,“I’d never had such a hard time falling asleep before.”
He continued, “Around April or May last year, a lot was going on with the label, and that’s when I started having insomnia. There was even a point where I didn’t sleep for 78 hours straight. So much was happening out there.”
The period RM mentioned was when the conflict between HYBE and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin reached its peak. At the time, HYBE accused Min of attempting to seize management control, launched an audit and later filed a criminal complaint for alleged breach of duty.
Recalling that time, RM said, “I had to carry out my duties, but I couldn’t function properly because I wasn’t sleeping.” He added, “I ended up taking sleeping pills, but the side effects started affecting my daily life.”
RM also shared that he still hasn’t stopped taking the medication. “It’s been about a year and two months, and I think I’m getting better,” he said. “But I’m still scared of sleeping.”
Six of BTS’s seven members have completed their military service, with Jimin and Jungkook now discharged. Suga is currently serving as a public service worker and is set to be discharged on June 21th.
Meanwhile, the first hearing for the lawsuit filed by Min Hee Jin against HYBE, demanding payment for her put option, is scheduled to take place today.
