Son Heung Min has continued to be the center of controversy ever since his blackmail scandal took over the internet. Despite celebrating his emotional victory as he won his first major club trophy by winning the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League a week ago, his past of dating scandals and rumors has come to light.
Currently, a woman came forward saying she dated Son Heung Min, became pregnant, and was forced to abort the child. Ms. Y, a woman in her 20s, claimed to be Son Heung Min’s long-term ex-girlfriend. Ms. Y demanded 300 million won (about $220,000) in medical expenses after sharing ultrasound photos and hospital records, claiming she was pregnant with Son’s child, and later extorted an additional 70 million won ($55,000) from him. The police investigation found that the pregnancy and abortion were true, but it was not confirmed whether Son Heung Min was actually the child’s biological father. Later, Son filed a case, and Ms. Y and her boyfriend were arrested on charges of blackmail and extortion.
Now, because of this scandalous situation, Son Heung Min’s tricky and difficult past relationship scandals have become a target of discussion. Son Heung Min’s first dating rumor was with Kim Min Ji, a regular person known to be a broadcasting and entertainment major. Although Kim Min Ji was a regular person, she attracted attention for her outstanding looks. Aside from this, nothing out of the ordinary happened between them.
Later in 2014, rumors of a relationship between Son Heung Min and Girl’s Day Minah became a hot topic after photos from a late-night date were captured by the press. At the time, Girl’s Day Minah’s agency DreamTea Entertainment initially explained that the two were merely “good friends,” but later changed their position to admit that they were dating. The official statement read, “They are meeting with good feelings.” No other drama occurred between the two, and they soon parted ways. A year later, Girl’s Day Minah released the song “I Am A Woman Too,” and some speculated if the sad love song was aimed at Son.
A year later, in 2015, there were reports of a romantic relationship between Son and actress Yoo So Young, a former After School member. Although Yoo’s agency revealed they were dating and confirmed the reports, Son remained silent. Later, Yoo So Young personally admitted to the relationship on a broadcast after Son Heung Min returned to England, but they eventually fizzled out.
Soon after, Han Yeon Soo, aka Miss Korea, became another one of the many women said to be dating Son. The rumors were fueled by posts that coincided with Son’s departure schedule alongside photos of their matching couple items. Despite news outlets and fans putting pieces of the puzzle together, neither side made an official statement regarding their relationship.
Then, in 2021, the rumor mill spun again as intense rumors of Son’s relationship with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo became a hot topic. The rumors of their relationship were brought to light when Jisoo watched Son Heung Min’s games, and the bracelets the two wore were suspected to be couple bracelets. However, both sides remained silent, which only made the suspicions spread further. Nothing came of the reports in the end.
In 2023, rumors resurfaced—this time involving actress Moon Ga Young. Speculation that the two were preparing for marriage spread quickly online, sparked by anonymous posts and unverified claims. Yet once again, neither party addressed the rumors, and the story quietly faded without any further developments.
Lastly, actress Kim Go Eun was the next and last female celebrity to have allegedly dated Son. The rumor originated from their Instagram accounts and the fact that they both followed a private account. However, it was revealed that the owner of the account was actress Jang Hee Ryeong, and it was proven to be groundless. Kim Go Eun’s agency also drew the line and denied the rumors, saying, “Kim Go Eun has never met Son Heung Min. The dating rumors are indeed false.”
