Lee Kwang Soo is officially entering his villain era—and he couldn’t be more excited.
At the press conference for Netflix’s upcoming thriller Karma held at JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul on March 31st, the actor shared just how intense the script was. “My hands got so sweaty reading it—it was like a pool,” he said.
Joining him on stage were director Lee Il Hyung and co-stars Shin Mina, Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Jun, Kim Sung Kyun, and Gong Seung Yeon. The series, adapted from a webtoon of the same name, follows six people entangled in a dark and twisted fate.
The entire cast echoed how immediately captivating the story was. Park Hae Soo shared, “There aren’t many scripts this extreme and well-structured—the suspense and twists pulled me right in.”
Shin Mina revealed that even though her character shows up later in the series, she was hooked from the get-go. “I was so into the story that I even forgot that I got the scripts (for my part),” she laughed. “Even before my arc began, I just knew—I had to do this.”

For Lee Kwang Soo and Gong Seung Yeon, the series offered a chance to fulfill long-held acting dreams. “I’ve always wanted to play a villain, and Karma finally gave me that opportunity,” Lee said. “You’ll see a completely different side of me. This project is like a Christmas present from Santa.”
Gong Seung Yeon added, “Seeing myself like that felt a little strange.” Playing Yu Jeong, a seductive femme fatale, took a lot of effort, she explained. “The makeup and wardrobe teams really helped me bring her to life. I especially got to go all out in the final scene—I made my dream come true.”
Director Lee teased that the series was designed to leave viewers hungry for more with every episode. “I’ve directed it to keep you guessing for the next episode,” he said. “The real truth won’t be revealed until episode six.”
Karma premieres on April 4th on Netflix.
