After a rocky few months, will Park Sung Hoon be making his comeback in the upcoming drama Efficient Dating of Single Men and Women (literal title)?
On the 26th, Park’s agency BH Entertainment confirmed that while he is indeed considering the role, there’s another actor being given first priority for the lead. “We’re currently waiting for a final response,” the agency stated.
Earlier that day, another media outlet reported that Park was in discussions to star in the drama, which adapts a popular webtoon. Efficient Dating of Single Men and Women tells the story of modern singles who’ve realized that love alone isn’t enough—but dating based only on conditions doesn’t quite cut it either.
If cast, Park would star opposite fellow BH Entertainment talent Han Ji Min, who is also reportedly reviewing the project. Han is currently riding high on the success of her drama Love Scout, while Park gained global recognition with Netflix’s Squid Game 2.
However, Park’s potential return comes after a recent controversy. The actor drew backlash for posting an explicit parody poster of Squid Game on Instagram. Although he swiftly deleted the post, the criticism persisted. His agency explained the incident, and Park personally issued a tearful apology during a Squid Game 2 press interview.
The incident had ripple effects: Park stepped down from a previously confirmed role in the drama The Tyrant’s Chef, signaling a temporary retreat from the spotlight. Now, the industry is watching closely to see if Efficient Dating will be the vehicle for his return.
