Wang Xiaofei, the ex-husband of the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has broken his silence about the current situation regarding their children.
Recently, Wang Xiaofei revealed during live streaming, “The two children’s condition has improved significantly,” adding, “The children are staying with my (current) wife, and it seems they’re getting along relatively well.”
Local media reported on the 4th that Barbie Hsu’s family and her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei had reached an agreement on the distribution of assets. Hsu’s estate of approximately 120 billion KRW (approximately 83 million USD) is said to have been equally divided among her two children and current husband Koo Jun Yup, aka DJ Koo.
The two children are currently living with Wang Xiaofei. Regarding this arrangement, Wang stated, “As a father, I was concerned about the children’s physical and mental health, so I decided to have them stay with me,” adding, “It’s a difficult time, but we will grit our teeth and overcome it.”
Hsu married Wang in 2011 and welcomed a son and daughter, but the couple divorced in 2021 after 10 years of marriage. Hsu later reunited with DJ Koo, who had been her boyfriend 20 years prior, and remarried in 2022. However, she passed away last month due to acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan, just three years into her second marriage. She was 48 years old.
Following her passing, controversy erupted over the distribution of assets. Recently, the bereaved family agreed to divide Hsu’s estate equally, with DJ Koo and the two children each receiving one-third, in accordance with Taiwanese law.
Additionally, the family, who had been searching for a burial site after canceling plans for a tree burial, has decided to lay Hsu to rest at Chin Pao San Cemetery. Many notable figures rest at the place, including Chinese music industry legends Teresa Teng, Coco Lee, Godfrey Gao, and director Chi Po-lin.
