Lee Yi Kyung has addressed the social media buzz surrounding his recent awards speech where he mentioned ex-girlfriend Jung In Sun.
In the latest episode of Shin Dong Yeob’s YouTube show “Zzanbro,” Lee appeared alongside his Hitman 2 co-stars Kwon Sang Woo and Hwang Woo Seul Hye.
At one point, Kwon playfully called out Lee, saying, “He mentioned his ex-girlfriend at the awards. I thought we were in Hollywood!”
The mention in question occurred at the 2024 APAN Star Awards, where Lee won the Excellence Award for Mid-Length Drama (Male) for tvN’s Marry My Husband, while Jung won an acting award in Short/Web Drama category for tvN’s O’PENing-Grand Shining Hotel. The former couple, who went public with their relationship in April 2018 before parting ways two months later, found themselves sharing the same ceremony space.
“We were in the same venue,” Lee explained with a sheepish smile. “It was a long time ago, and we had dated publicly. I actually received more messages about my acceptance speech than congratulations for the award.”
Host Shin Dong Yeob came to Lee’s defense: “Doesn’t everyone date someone before meeting someone else? I don’t understand why people make such a fuss. It’s about trial and error until you find someone who’s a better match.”
Later, in a candid admission, the actor shared, “I thought I’d be married in my 20s, but now I’m approaching 40.”
