The legal battle between K-pop sensation NewJeans and the label ADOR continues to escalate, with ADOR filing for an injunction to prevent the group from entering into independent advertising contracts.

On January 13th, ADOR filed for a “Preservation of Agency Status and Prohibition of Advertising Contract Injunction” against NewJeans members at the Seoul Central District Court.

According to ADOR, this legal action aims to maintain their position as the group’s management company until the first trial verdict of their “Confirmation of Exclusive Contract Validity” lawsuit, filed on December 3rd last year. The injunction specifically seeks to prevent NewJeans members from independently engaging in advertising contracts and activities without ADOR’s approval or consent.

The injunction appears designed to restrict NewJeans’ independent activities to the maximum extent possible. ADOR explained their rationale, stating, “If market and industry confusion continues due to the members’ independent actions, NewJeans’ brand value will inevitably decline, and ADOR could face a management crisis.”

ADOR also emphasized their commitment to continuing activities with NewJeans. The company stated, “We have provided all personnel and facilities support until now and plan to continue doing so,” adding, “We are receiving proposals for advertisements and events, and have completed planning for a regular album release and fan meetings.”

The dispute became public in November when NewJeans held a press conference announcing that their exclusive contract with ADOR and HYBE was “no longer valid due to breach of trust,” signaling their intention to pursue independent activities. In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking confirmation of their exclusive contract’s validity with the Seoul Central District Court.
