The wait is finally over – the second season of Gyeongseong Creature has finally come to Netflix and the familiar cast (alongside some new faces) are ready to wow and thrill us even more this year and right in time for Halloween!

With season one based in 1945 during the Japanese occupation period, we jump to present-day Seoul 2024 and delve into the connections of fate as the past is seamlessly connected to the present of our favorite couple who seem to find themselves falling in love again even in a different timeline. The drama was released last Friday, September 27th, and makes for the perfect weekend binge fest or addition to any scary Halloween K-Drama list!

Fans waited with bated breath as we all wondered what would happen after the final episode of Gyeongseong Creature’s first season. Now, season two has not only answers for all but also continues to rattle our senses with heated drama, impactful plot twists and honestly more rave-worthy action scenes. Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon) and Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee) encounter disturbing creatures (one ultimately being Yoon Chae Ok’s mother) at Ongseong Hospital and the on-screen death of our heroine left us devastated. Right when viewers felt love was blossoming within the war-torn country and gruesome monster-driven storyline, our hearts were shattered as we witnessed Yoon Chae Ok begging her mother to stop her rampage right before her heart is pierced by the creature’s knife-like tentacles and Jang Tae Sang weeps into the night sky over her dead body. Tragic.

Season two doesn’t shy away from not only linking back to season one but also foreshadowing the return of these deadly creatures and more. Park Seo Joon’s character Jang Ho Jae, who bears a striking resemblance to Jang Tae Sang, is now the leading man. Despite her death from before Yoon Chae Ok makes a return yet remains shrouded in mystery. Although both characters seem to be unaware of one another’s circumstances, they tango back and forth and seem to be even more gravitated towards each other. Jang Tae Sang plays the role of a modern day cop, known for solving many tricky and laborious crimes and Yoon Chae Ok’s character is on the hunt and secretly investigates the deaths of people caused by the creature(s). This time it seems the two love birds and pitted against one another but love has a way of always prevailing – otherwise, it wouldn’t be a K-Drama now would it?

Season two addresses many plot twists that left us on the edge of our seats from season one. For example, what became of Myeong Ja’s child who was infected with the parasite after Colonel Kato, basically the mad-scientist conducting these horrible experiments, was last seen caring for the baby? How did Kato and Lady Maeda survive? Why does Yoon Chae Ok return unscathed and virtually the same as she was in 1945? Is there some tie between Park Seo Joon’s two characters? There is so much viewers want to know and all seven episodes bring clarity to the in-depth historical-thriller drama’s intense plot.

Overall, the action in season two was well-filmed and performed just as it was in season one. Right from the beginning of episode one, fans can feel the rush of fast-paced action scenes without feeling like the storyline is pushing on too quickly. Park Seo Joon and Han Seo Hee are easily becoming a top tier on-screen for the end of 2024 and fans have already taken to Twitter to share just how much they enjoyed seeing the actors appear in a modern day setting compared to the past.

Based off the comments alone, it seems that fans binged the season within a day entirely and shared many comments about the development of the storyline, the warm-hearted ending, and their overall thoughts for what season two had to offer. See the Tweets and reactions below!

Do you agree with what fans had to say about GyeongSeong Creature season two? Perhaps we are in need of a season three? Although it seems that the drama has come to a close, especially in regards to the main character’s romantic relationship, who knows when another nightmarish creature will rear its head again. History has a tendency to repeat itself after all.
