Jeon Jong Seo, who has recently faced school bullying allegations, spoke out about the controversy at her first public appearance since the claims surfaced.

On August 27th, a press conference for the TVING original series The Queen Woo was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The event featured actors Jeon Jong Seo, Kim Mu Yeol, Jung Yu Mi, Lee Soo Hyuk, along with director Jung Se Gyo and writer Lee Byung Hak.

The Queen Woo is a historical action drama that follows Queen Woo as she navigates a fierce battle for power after the sudden death of the king. Targeted by five tribal factions and various princes vying for the throne, Queen Woo has just 24 hours to install a new king and secure her place. The drama centers around the ancient Korean practice of a king’s brother marrying the queen after the king’s death to maintain royal lineage. The series promises to showcase a strong, independent female lead as Queen Woo takes matters into her own hands to protect her position.

Jeon Jong Seo plays the role of Woo Hee, the queen of Goguryeo, known as the most beautiful woman in the kingdom. Born into the prestigious Woo family, which has produced generations of queens, Woo Hee is both intelligent and strong-willed. However, she is forced to live her life like a pawn on a chessboard due to her gender and her family’s expectations.

Earlier in April, bullying allegations against Jeon Jong Seo spread through online communities, causing controversy even before The Queen Woo was released. Her agency, ANDMARQ, responded by stating, “We have thoroughly checked the facts with the actress and those around her, and confirmed that the claims made in the post are entirely false. We plan to take necessary legal action to protect the actress.”

At the press conference, Jeon Jong Seo reiterated her stance on the matter. “As my company has already stated, it is completely untrue. If it were true, I don’t think I would be standing here confidently presenting this project to the public. I regret that I have been caught up in this situation, and I am committed to helping those who may have been hurt by this,” she said.

The Queen Woo will be released on TVING on the 29th.
