AfreecaTV streamer Juice Seyeon, a.k.a BJ Se Yeon, has spoken out to address persistent rumors about a controversial trip to the Philippines. On the latest episode of Netflix’s The Influencer, released on the 13th, Se Yeon opened up during a game where contestants had to win hashtags that best represented them.
Se Yeon confidently selected the hashtag #1stPlace, explaining, “Last year, I was the top female streamer on AfreecaTV, both in viewership and earnings. I made about 3.2 billion KRW (approximately 2.4 million USD).”
However, it was her choice of the hashtag #Expose that drew the most attention. Se Yeon revealed, “There was a huge scandal for months on online forums when my ex-boyfriend claimed that I went on a trip with a big-spending fan. It became a huge deal, even making the news.”
In an interview segment, Se Yeon admitted, “It’s not my favorite keyword, but I thought it was the most fitting given what happened,” adding, “I just wanted to clear the air about it.”
Se Yeon had previously been caught up in rumors started by her ex-boyfriend, alleging she secretly traveled to the Philippines to meet a devoted fan, who supposedly gifted her luxury items and 50 million KRW (approximately 37,500 USD) in cash. Addressing the scandal, Se Yeon clarified, “It’s not true. I only dated my ex for about two weeks, but we fought a lot, so we broke up. I actually went on the trip with two close female friends, and we couldn’t do much because of a typhoon. The bag I bought was with my own money, and it wasn’t worth tens of thousands of dollars.” She even provided hotel booking records, which listed the names of the women who accompanied her, to support her statement.
Most recently, Se Yeon made headlines after being spotted in Los Angeles with HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk, adding to her growing profile.
