BTS’s Suga is facing another wave of backlash, this time for allegedly lying about a recent incident involving an electric scooter and alcohol.

On the 13th, Yonhap News TV released security camera footage showing Suga riding an electric scooter on a sidewalk in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul. The video captures the moment he crashed into a curb and fell. Fortunately, a patrolling police unit witnessed the fall and called for assistance. Upon arriving, officers noticed the smell of alcohol and conducted a breathalyzer test on the spot.

Big Hit Music previously issued a statement saying, “Suga was on his way home when he used an electric kickboard while wearing a helmet. After moving about 500 meters, he fell while parking his kickboard. An officer nearby conducted a breathalyzer test, resulting in a fine and the revocation of his license. There were no injuries or property damage involved.”

However, the released video contradicts the statement. Suga was riding an electric scooter, not a kickboard, and was not simply parking—he was actively riding on a pedestrian sidewalk when he crashed into the curb. The situation was highly dangerous, as he could have easily hit a passerby. His blood alcohol content was reported to be 0.227%, far exceeding the legal limit for license revocation. In South Korea, a BAC over 0.2% results in increased penalties.

Netizens have been quick to express their outrage. Comments like “What if he had hit someone?” “It’s a miracle no one was hurt” and “His apology statement was full of lies” flooded online, while some questioned, “How could he not know you can’t drink and drive?”

The Yongsan District Police Department plans to formally summon the rapper soon to investigate the specifics of his alcohol consumption. Suga has been fulfilling his military service as a social service agent since September of last year, with his discharge scheduled for June next year.
