During a press event for Netflix’s new series The 8 Show, director Han Jae Rim addressed swirling rumors linking him romantically with actress Lee Yul Eum.

The conference, held at the Ambassador Pullman Hotel in central Seoul on the 10th, gathered a notable cast including Ryu Jun Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Lee Yul Eum, Park Hae Jun, Lee Ju Young, Moon Jung Hee, and Bae Sung Woo.

The 8 Show, a thrilling Netflix series, follows eight characters trapped in an enigmatic eight-story structure where time literally translates into money. This project marks Han Jae Rim’s first collaboration with Netflix and his debut in series direction, sparking significant buzz even before its release.

When asked about the rumors during the press event, Han Jae Rim expressed his bafflement. “I don’t know why such a misunderstanding occurred. I am not a celebrity and was surprised to see this issue gaining attention,” he said, denying any romantic involvement. Han Jae Rim, born in 1975, is 49 years old, while Lee Yul Eum, born in 1996, is 28.

He further explained the potential source of the rumors. “There’s a director’s tent on set where actors often rest and monitor their performances,” he shared. “Lee Yul Eum was very dedicated during filming, to the extent of saying, ‘If my acting wasn’t good, make me do it again.’ Maybe her being so frequently on the monitor and asking questions might have looked like we were together to the staff,” he clarified, adding, “The romance rumors are not true. I am close with all the actors involved.”

Meanwhile, The 8 Show, consisting of eight episodes, is set to premiere on Netflix on the 17th.
