Ahn Bo Hyun has set the record straight about a viral video from the set of his 2021 drama Yumi’s Cells. The clip, which showed a female staff member holding a script for him, resurfaced online two years after its release and sparked criticism of the actor’s behavior.

In a recent interview for his latest drama Flex X Cop, Ahn Bo Hyun spoke about last year’s incident. “I was definitely surprised when I saw the controversy,” he admitted. “Sure, I get how it might look bad to people who don’t know the context.”

The actor went on to explain the staff member in question is a close colleague he has worked with for over 12 years. “She and I are practically family,” Ahn Bo Hyun emphasized. “I’ve worked with the same agency, stylist, and hair team for 12 or 13 years, so I never thought this would be a problem. I figured even if I explained things, it would just come across as an excuse and make things worse for both of us.”

He continued, “I’m not sure if the controversy has died down, but I want to make it clear that the situation in that video was not what it seemed. She and I have worked together for over a decade, and if I did anything wrong, there’s no way we could have maintained our relationship for so long. I didn’t think explaining myself at the time would do any good. So I just kept quiet and hoped that people who knew me would understand. The stylist team was the one who felt bad, but we all agreed that it wasn’t a big deal. We’re still close and working together just fine.”

Ahn Bo Hyun is currently filming the movie The Devil Has Moved In (literal translation) with Girls’ Generation’s YoonA, which is scheduled to be released in June 2024. The movie was originally titled 2 O’Clock Date.
