Lee Dong Gun opened up about facing post-traumatic stress disorder after his brother’s death on SBS’ My Little Old Boy.

During the show, Lee Dong Gun shared with a mental health specialist that he has been drinking daily for the past 10 years. When asked if he ever thought about cutting down on alcohol, he said, “Sometimes my hand would shake just from taking pictures during drama shoots. I stopped drinking for a week after that shock, and my hands stopped shaking.”

When asked about when he started drinking heavily, Lee Dong Gun answered, “It’s been about 10 years.” He also mentioned, “I was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder due to an incident tied with my family. They suggested I be hospitalized,” revealing he spent almost two months in a psychiatric ward at that time. The incident occurred 13 years ago when his younger brother tragically lost his life in Australia due to a stabbing accident.

Lee Dong Gun’s mother, who watched the video, expressed regret, saying she only found out about her son’s hospitalization afterward because he kept it hidden from the family.

He revealed that he had never spoken up against his strict father, saying, “I just silently hated him,” admitting that difficulty expressing emotions stemmed from his stern father.

Netizens who learned about Lee Dong Gun’s experience offered words of encouragement, saying, “I hope you stay strong and get both your body and mind healthy,” “It would be great if you spend a lot of time with Roa,” and “I sincerely hope you find peace of mind.”
