Ma Dong Seok has been voted as the top movie star of 2023 in a recent survey by Korea Gallup.
Out of 1,769 participants aged 13 and older from all over the country (excluding Jeju), 18% voted for Ma Dong Seok as the most influential actor in the survey conducted between November 2nd and December 4th, 2023.
The star achieved this acclaim with the success of The Roundup: No Way Out, which attracted 10 million viewers in June. This accomplishment adds to his track record of box office hits, following the success of The Roundup.
Lee Byung Hun came in second with 14.6% for his role in the movie Concrete Utopia and also secured the Best Actor award at the 2023 Blue Dragon Film Awards.
Claiming third place was Song Kang Ho with 11.1% of the votes. He made a successful comeback in movies this year with Kim Ji Woon’s film Cobweb. Additionally, Hwang Jung Min and Jung Woo Sung from the latest hit movie 12.12: The Day ranked fourth and seventh, respectively, with 10.1% and 6.6%.
Among other actresses, Kim Hye Soo from Smugglers secured the highest ranking, claiming the sixth position with 7.2%, while her co-star Jo In Sung took the eighth spot with 4.9%. Yoo Hae Jin of Honey Sweet and Ha Jung Woo of Road to Boston tied for the tenth place with over 2.9%.
Notably, despite not having new movies or TV works this year, Lee Jung Jae and Son Suk Ku showcased their enduring popularity among audiences, securing the fourth position with 10.1% and the ninth position with 3.6% on the list.
