Recent news has brought uncertainty to the debut of YG Entertainment’s highly anticipated new girl group, as a crucial member has stepped away from the act.

On November 15th, News1 reported that Ahyeon bid farewell to BABYMONSTER for personal reasons, leading the upcoming K-pop sensation to confirm its debut as a six-member group.

In response to the reports, YG Entertainment announced, “BABYMONSTER will debut as a six-member group with Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Haram, Rora, and Chikita.”

Originally, the girl act was planned to debut as a seven-member group, including Ahyeon. However, Ahyeon has decided to take a break due to health related reasons after careful consideration.”

YG stated, “We regret not being able to introduce Ahyeon as a member of the group, but we made this decision prioritizing the artist’s health,” and added, “We will spare no effort to support Ahyeon in fully recovering and returning in good health.”

Ahyeon, known for her striking resemblance to BLACKPINK’s Jennie, captured the hearts of fans with her standout looks, undeniable talent, and an impressive rendition of Charlie Puth’s “Dangerously,” securing her status as a linchpin in BABYMONSTER.

Even Yang Hyun Suk, YG Entertainment’s head producer, praised Ahyeon, hailing her as a “warrior with too many weapons.”
