Rowoon will be turning heads in KBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama, The Matchmakers.
The Matchmakers is a rom-com featuring the plight of single men and women navigating the minefield of matchmaking in Joseon-era Korea. Rowoon takes on the role of Shim Jeong Woo, the heartthrob of the city, who joins forces with Jung Soon Duk, a widow living a double life, to deliver a Joseon-style Love Actually.
In The Matchmakers, Rowoon intricately portrays Shim Jeong-woo, an old-fashioned man with an unparalleled level of stubbornness and charisma. Recently, the drama gave a glimpse into the key scenes showcasing Rowoon’s transition into Shim Jeong Woo.
First, Jeong Woo exhibits his sharp intellect and straight-shooting candor after acing the past civil examination, outwitting other scholars and establishing himself as a character you can’t help but admire.
Soon after, he transforms into a dashing groom dressed in colorful matrimonial robes. Yet his radiant appearance is starkly contrasted by his solemn expression, revealing his underlying discomfort. One can’t help but wonder what drove Jeong Woo, the youngest person to reach the top-tier rank in the civil examination, to embark on this emotional rollercoaster.
The production team raved about Rowoon, saying, “Rowoon is an actor with extraordinary passion who doesn’t shy away from taking on new acting challenges. Please look forward to the premiere of The Matchmakers, where you can fully appreciate Rowoon’s myriad expressions.”
You can catch the first episode airing at 9:45 PM on October 30th KST.
