BTS’s V is making waves with a tourism promo video for Seoul, racking up a staggering 7 million views within two days of its release.
The video, titled “New Tradition,” was launched by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Tourism Organization’s VisitSeoulTV, showcasing a hipper Seoul where the past meets the present.
The video kicks off with V, sitting against both traditional yet contemporary backdrops, accompanied by the title “Seoul Edition 23.” It then segues into showcasing Y2K fashion in Dongmyo Market, modern cafes hidden in traditional markets, and eye-catching media facade displays in Gwanghwamun Square. The film wraps up with the compelling message, “Seoul, Make It Yours.”
Ever since their first appointment as honorary tourism ambassadors for Seoul in 2017, BTS has been a recurring feature in Seoul’s tourism videos. This year, V goes solo, introducing viewers to Seoul’s unique “newtro” (new & retro) vibe and a lifestyle that enjoys nature within the urban landscape. The mood is further elevated by V’s trendy aura and rich voice.
Teasers for V’s “Seoul Edition” had already surpassed 400,000 views within a week, foretelling the campaign’s success. Additionally, a second video focusing on “Nature in the City” is scheduled for release on the 8th at 1 PM KST.
The significance of this year’s tourism promo video is particularly pronounced as it introduces Seoul’s new city brand, “Seoul, My Soul,” to the world for the first time. The campaign will be advertised in key cities such as New York’s Times Square, Tokyo, and Shanghai, as well as through influential global media outlets like CNN and NBC, boosting its promotional synergy across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
Gil Ki Yeon, CEO of Seoul Tourism Organization, expressed strong determination, stating, “Through this Seoul Edition campaign led by V, we aim to show the world the unique ‘newtro’ charm of Seoul, where natural beauty coexists with urban life, and give them every reason to visit Seoul right away.”
