Concrete Utopia, A Normal Family and Smugglers will be screened at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival.
Concrete Utopia, starring powerhouse actors Lee Byung Hun, Park Seo Joon, and Park Bo Young, will premiere in the Gala Presentation Section at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The film follows the footsteps of other acclaimed works like The Good, the Bad, the Weird, The Housemaid, Cold Eyes, and Hunt, all of which have graced the Gala stage in previous years.
A Normal Family is also gearing up for its highly anticipated world premiere at the Special Presentation Section. This new film, directed by Hur Jin Ho, takes audiences on a captivating journey with two married siblings who hold differing beliefs, stumbling upon shocking secrets. The film stars Sol Kyung Gu, Jang Dong Gun, Kim Hee Ae, and Claudia Kim. Other films invited to screen in the Special Presentation Section at TIFF includes Asura: The City of Madness, Parasite, Decision to Leave, and Broker.
TIFF programmer Giovanna Fulvi shared her enthusiasm for inviting A Normal Family, praising Director Hur’s strong directing skills and the cast’s remarkable performances that bring depth to the heart-wrenching story of a seemingly “normal” family’s life falling apart. The film is hailed as a standout and powerful adaptation of Herman Koch’s best-selling novel, The Dinner.
Another exciting Korean film Smugglers will be showcased in the Special Presentation section at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival. The film stars Kim Hye Soo, Um Jung Ah, Jo In Sung, and Park Jung Min.
TIFF’s Chief Programming Officer, Anita Lee, expressed her enthusiasm for the film, praising Director Ryoo for his ability to captivate audiences with his signature action scenes infused with his unique wittiness.
Meanwhile, the 48th Toronto International Film Festival will be held from September 7th to the 17th.
