EXO members Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen have sent shockwaves through the K-pop industry with their surprise notification of contract termination with their agency, SM Entertainment.

On the 1st, SPOTVNEWS reported that SM Entertainment (SM) recently sent a written notice to Big Planet Made (BPM), a company where MC Mong serves as an in-house director.

There have been sightings of BPM attempting to induce the three EXO members to sign a contract with them. An SM official confirmed to SPOTVNEWS, “We have sent a legal notice to BPM Entertainment.”

While BPM confirmed to SportSeoul that they received the notice from SM regarding the suspicion of contract inducement involving EXO’s Baekhyun, Xiumin, and Chen, they denied any intention of recruiting the members.

BPM refuted the allegations by stating, “MC Mong merely met with his fellow artists in a personal gathering, with no intention of recruitment. Currently, MC Mong isn’t an in-house director.” This company was founded by Music Producer Park Jang Geun, aka Duble Sidekick, and currently represents artists like Ren, VIVIZ, Soyou, Ha Sung Woon, and Huh Gak.

Earlier in the day, Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin announced that they had notified SM of their contract termination through a legal representative. The trio claimed that the label did not properly disclose settlement data and pressured them into long-term exclusive contracts.

EXO had previously hinted at a full-member comeback, but the sudden military enlistment of member Kai and the contract dispute involving Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin have cast uncertainty over the group’s return.
