The fantasy epic Arthdal Chronicles is making a comeback.
According to broadcast insiders on the 23rd, Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon, aka Arthdal Chronicles 2, has confirmed its premiere as tvN weekend to premiere in September. It has been arranged as a follow-up to The Uncanny Counter 2.
Arthdal Chronicles tells the fateful stories of heroes, each with different legends in the ancient land Arth. The first broadcast of Arthdal Chronicles in 2019 garnered attention with its A-list casting lineup including Jang Dong Gun, Song Joong Ki, Kim Ji Won, Kim Ok Vin, and more. It also showcased an impressive worldview and grand narrative, wowing K-drama fans.
In the first season of Arthdal Chronicles, actors Song Joong Ki and Kim Ji Won played the lead roles of Eun Seom and Tanya, respectively. For Season 2, Lee Joon Gi and Shin Se Kyung will take over as the two leads.
Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon is set about eight years after Tagon (Jang Dong Gun) seized the throne.
Jang Dong Gun and Kim Ok Vin will reprise their roles as Tagon, the ruler of Arthdal, and Tae Alha, an ambitious politician, respectively. The drama will depict a tense standoff leading to an inevitable war between Tagon’s Kingdom of Arthdal and Eun Seom’s Ago Tribe, a situation that will determine the destiny of the Arth.
