The upcoming Netflix series Black Knight is set in a future Korean peninsula where extreme air pollution makes it impossible to live without an oxygen respirator. The story revolves around the legendary deliveryman “5-8” and a refugee named Sawol as they confront the Cheonmyeong Group, which rules the new world.

The character posters released today contrast the four main characters, each living in a drastically changed world in their own way, using similar angles to highlight their differences.

Set in a world devastated by a comet collision and faced with scarce resources, the social class system has solidified even further. The legendary deliveryman 5-8 (Kim Woo Bin) is responsible for delivering oxygen and necessities to people. Meanwhile, Ryu Seok (Song Seung Heon), the heir of the Cheonmyeong Group, seems to live a life unaffected by the sandstorm-filled outside world. Then there are also Sawol (Kang Yoo Seok), a refugee with dreams of becoming a deliveryman, and Lieutenant Seol Ah (Esom) who digs into a mysterious case.

The conflict between the Cheonmyeong Group, seeking to further strengthen class divisions and control, and those who oppose them will unfold in a never-before-seen world.

Director Jo Eui Seok did not hold back his praise for the actors. “Kim Woo Bin was a perfect fit for the strong and cold image of 5-8,” he said, applauding the actor’s portrayal of 5-8, who works as a deliveryman by day and as a black knight trying to change the world order by night. Director Jo also praised Song Seung Heon’s performance, saying, “He exceeded expectations with his challenge to a new character.”

About Kang Yoo Seok, Jo praised, “He had the highest understanding of Sawol and expressed the lively and quirky aspects of the character very well.” As for Lee Som, he expressed satisfaction, saying, “I believe Seol Ah was already completed when Esom did her costume fitting.”

Meanwhile, Black Knight will be released on Netflix on May 12th.
