TWICE’s Chaeyoung wrote an official apology for wearing a shirt featuring a controversial symbol.
She wrote, “Hello, this is Chaeyoung from TWICE. I sincerely apologize regarding the Instagram post. I didn’t correctly recognize the meaning of the tilted swastika in the t-shirt I wore. I deeply apologize for not thoroughly reviewing it, causing concern. I will pay absolute attention in the future to prevent any situation similar from happening again. Sincerely apologize again.”

Previously, Chaeyoung caused controversy on Instagram after posting pictures of herself wearing a shirt with Sid Vicious (English musician) and a swastika, a symbol strongly associated with the Nazi regime. Some also pointed out that she wore the same shirt more than once, seeing from her posts, leading to many people criticizing her choice of clothing.
TWICE’s fandom even released a statement, claiming, “In her recent Instagram post, Chaeyoung wrote a shirt with a print of Sid Civicos wearing the swastika logo. We implore JYPE and Chaeyoung to delete the post immediately and release an apology.”
JYP Entertainment also apologized for the matter. “We take responsibility for not examining more closely and failing to recognize the issue at hand,” they wrote. “We will take extra caution to prevent such situations from happening again in the future. We apologize for any discomfort or offense caused.”
