Netflix’s new movie Kill Boksoon garnered explosive reactions at the 73rd Berlin Film Festival.
Kill Boksoon is an action film about a legendary contract killer named Gil Bok Soon, who gets caught up in an inevitable set of events before renewing her contract with her company.
The movie made its international premiere at the Berlinale Special program at the Verti Music Hall, the largest ballroom or smallest stadium in Berlin, on February 18th at 9 PM (EST). About 1,800 people – including director Byun Sung Hyun, Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Sia – attended the event. Prior to the official screening, the movie’s cast and crew took to the red carpet and posed in their stunning looks.
Executive Director Carlo Chatrian praised Jeon Do Yeon’s performance in the film by saying that it was adrenaline-pumping and that she perfectly portrayed a different mother from the one she did in Secret Sunshine.
Leading overseas media outlets also commented favorably on her latest work. Deadline reported, “There’s a lot of rich character work to supplement the superbly choreographed violence that we’ve come to expect from the region.” The Hollywood Reporter stated that Jeon Do Yeon is a proven actress that will never let you down with her acting. The Upcoming stated, “The action sequences dazzle without trying too hard, and the violence is depicted with fetishised beauty and creativity (plus some unrestrained CGI blood splatter).”
Kill Boksoon will be released on March 31st.
